Crime Stoppers of Grey-Bruce News

Crime Stoppers to Continue its Program in Grey and Bruce.

Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce is pleased to announce they can continue operations in Grey and Bruce.  The program is grateful for the ongoing support of the Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores, and Hanover Police Services Boards.  The local Crime Stoppers program is undergoing a substantial restructuring under the direction of its volunteer Board of Directors. Despite a lack of funding from the majority of Ontario Provincial Police serviced municipalities at this time, Crime Stoppers is still here to take the public’s Tips anonymously as it has since 1987.

Crime Stopper’s success is reflected in the numbers. In Grey and Bruce Counties police were supplied with almost 700 tips from Crime Stoppers in the last year. These tips resulted in the recovery of over $117,000 of stolen property and the seizure of over $590,000 worth of drugs and proceeds. Since our inception in 1987 Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce’s tips have led to the seizure or recovery of over 55.7 MILLION DOLLARS in drugs, cash, and property!

Make a Difference in Your Community

Crime Stoppers is overseen by a volunteer Board that is passionate about making a difference in their community, and the program is currently seeking self-motivated, committed members to represent the communities of Grey and Bruce Counties on the Board of Directors, or as volunteers for fundraising events and community awareness initiatives. Those with treasurer or secretary experience would be assets to the program.

As a registered charity Crime Stoppers relies on the generosity of community donors to help fund the program and keep it sustainable.

Crime Stoppers is not for emergency response. The community is encouraged to call 911 to report crimes, suspicious persons, or activities in progress

Tips can be reported to Crime Stoppers by submitting an online “Web-Tip” at www.cstip.ca; downloading the free P3 Tips mobile app; or by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
