Tip Intake Temporarily Suspended
Updated
The Board of Directors of Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce has voted to suspend the collection of tips, effective October 22, 2026 and until further notice. This suspension remains in place.
Please do not submit tips to Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce at this time, whether by phone, online, or through the P3 Tips app.
Update: national telephone-only guidance
On October 30, the Canadian Crime Stoppers Association recommended an interim telephone-only approach to tip reporting through 1-800-222-TIPS. This recommendation does not change our status. We are reviewing the guidance, and any decision to resume would need the support of our police partners. Any change will be announced on this page before service resumes in Grey Bruce.
Why we made this decision
Protecting the anonymity of the people who contact us is the foundation of Crime Stoppers. Our tip management platform, P3, is provided by a third-party vendor, Navigate360, which experienced a data security incident earlier this year affecting Crime Stoppers programs across Canada. Until we are confident that tips can be received and stored safely, we will not ask the public to send us information.
What to do instead
If there is an emergency or a crime in progress, call 911.
For non-emergency matters, contact the police service for your community:
- Owen Sound Police Service: 519-376-1234
- Hanover Police Service: 519-364-2411
- West Grey Police Service: 519-371-6911 or toll-free 1-855-234-8224
- Saugeen Shores Police Service (Port Elgin, Southampton, Saugeen Township): 519-832-2500
- Ontario Provincial Police (all other communities in Grey and Bruce, including Neyaashiinigmiing): 1-888-310-1122, TTY 1-888-310-1133
Please be aware that information given directly to police does not go through Crime Stoppers and is not covered by the Crime Stoppers anonymity program.
