Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce, the Hanover Police Service, and the South Bruce OPP are asking for the public's assistance to help identify suspects in two new incidents of copper wire theft.
Sometime overnight on September 8th and 9th 2009 at least three culprits broke into the Hydro One Transformer Station on Grey Road 28 north of Hanover. The thieves cut several strips of unclad copper grounding wire including a number of strips that were buried underground.
This incident is similar to a theft of copper wire that occurred on September 28th at Hurontel Communications in Ripley in which 300 meters of 22 gauge insulated copper wire was stolen. The total value of the stolen wire is estimated at $4,500.00.
