Crime Stoppers of Grey Bruce and the South Bruce OPP are asking for the public's assistance to help identify a suspect or suspects who are responsible for the theft of copper cable.

Sometime on May 19th or 20th 2009 unknown suspect(s) cut a hole in the fence of a transformer station situated on McNab Street in Walkerton.
Once inside the culprits then cut off the main live ground feed that has a potential of 44,000 volts and removed the underground copper grounding grid.

During the same time frame attempts were also made at another transformer station situated on Hinks Street near Walkerton High School, however police believe the suspects may have been spooked during the attempted theft of more copper. The current price of clean scrap copper is approximately $5.00 per pound and it is believed that that the daring thieves made off with anywhere from 200 - 500 pounds of the metal.
