On December 25, 2010 at approximately 1:30 a.m. three thugs forcibly entered the Hanover Tim Horton's which was closed for the Christmas holiday. The suspects located and stole the store's security safe and then carted it to a nearby street where they left the scene in an unknown vehicle. The safe is described as being 1 foot wide and 2 feet tall and was a gray lock box with push button combination numbers and a silver locking handle.

Surveillance cameras showed that during the theft all three suspects were wearing heavy winter clothing which included gloves, ski masks, and toques.
